Description
What's the Now That's What I Call Music series got to do with a year like 2002? Sure, the biggies--from Nelly to No Doubt--rode new hit material that's featured here. But during the same year, piano-playing wunderkind Norah Jones wowed listeners with a mellow new marriage of pop and jazz. And the Dixie Chicks closed out a long legal battle and presented a down-home traditional country record that topped the charts. Now 11 is the CD equivalent of a mix tape that bounces from big, urban beats and rhymes to laid-back electro-pop chill to coolly groundbreaking piano-driven melodies. Norah, the Chicks, and Coldplay all push Now in a more adult-oriented direction, one where beats take a backseat to acoustic instrumentation and sincere lyrics. Then there's the notably sultry, full-blossomed "I Care 4 U" from Aaliyah, which stands as a fine tribute to the late singer. --Andrew Bartlett

Summary: "Vol. 11"
With it's next installment 'Now!' kicked things up a notch and really delivers. This is the turning point in the music scene and the songs selected here for the most part are smart and in their own regards large hits. There are some new artists to the list as well as some comebacks, some who have been here before but now take new form and deliver much better the second or third go around.
Nelly kicks things off with what may be his biggest it ever. 'Hot in Herre' is a perfect summer anthum and was a club favorite and it serves as a nice way to kick off the album. N.O.R.E., Eve & Beenie Man all deliver in the rap area as well, Beenie Man and Janet taking the crown as the best addition to the rap portion of our comp. disc.
Dirty Vegas makes their first appearance here as does No Doubt, Norah Jones and Jennifer Love Hewitt, Norah Jones taking the crown as greatest new addition, while The Dixie Chicks also make their first appearance, but they serve another purpose. The mark the turning point in pop culture, the acceptance of country music as more than a pass time for hillbillys but as good music that everyone can enjoy. Finally 'Now!' and the rest of the world was ready to see that.
As far as serving it up better the second or third go around, the champs in this catagory are of course Coldplay. They were first heard on 'Now!' delivering their weak debut single 'Yellow' a song I have never been a fan of, but with 'In My Place' Coldplay have regained my favor. Great song. Also, Vanessa Carlton delivers better her second go around as does Creed with my favorite Creed song 'One Last Breath' which is lightyears ahead of 'With Arms Wide Open'.
The highlight of th album though is Our Lady Peace's 'Somewhere Out There' which takes the crown as best song onthe album and it's such a nice change of pace to see someone like OLP on here instead of the same ol' same ol'. Never was a fan of 'Hero' but I understand why it's here. Spiderman was huge and rightfully so, so it only makes sense that the theme song would be on everyones play list...just not mine.

Summary: "Poor beyond poor beyond poor beyond poor beyond poor..."
I remember Christmas a couple years back, when I saw a CD wrapped under the tree. Hoping it would either be by the Beatles or a computer game, I eagerly unwrapped it. I thought, oh no not pop music, but gave it a chance anyway.
I'm sorry I did. The first three songs are all raps, and you know my feelings toward rap (If you don't, I hate it.) Hot In Herre is on my list of overrated songs, although Weird Al's parody, Trash, is hilarious. A bunch of boring songs, then Landslide, which is okay...more boring songs...No Doubt? Dear God, don't let them hurt me! More boring songs...hey, Hero, that's good, Don't Know Why is too. More boring songs...In My Place, that one's good...more boring songs...ONE LAST BREATH? MAKE IT STOP!!!!!!!!
Don't buy this.

Summary: "Best Now Collection To Me!"
Why is it the best collection? Because most of the hits on here are actually ones everyone knows, unlike a lot of songs on the Now c.d.s where a lot of people look at the songs and think- what? I never heard of this song, how can it be considered a hit? This collection of songs, in my opinion, actually are hits that everyone knew, and thus my favorite collection of songs, because a lot of the other Now c.d.s I only like at least three or four songs and that's it, while on Now 11 I like almost all of them. I hope the future Now c.d.s find the right hits more often than they do.
1) Hot In Herre- A- Catchy song, very fun kind of song.
2) Nothin'- D- I don't know how this song got on here, it doesn't sound good at all.
3) Gansta Lovin'- A- Another catchy fun song.
4) Feel It Boy- B- All right, but I don't really consider it a hit.
5) Days Go By- A- Good- sounding kind of song, very addictive.
6) Love At First Sight- B+- Love the sound of this song.
7) Objection- A- One of Shakira's best songs.
8) Underneath It All- B+- Catchy song, and I do consider it a hit.
9) Barenaked- B- The only good song by Hewitt in my opinion, but nothing special.
10) Ordinary Day- A- Great song by Vanessa Carlton, I love the lyrics and the sound.
11) Landslide- A- Very good song, I like it.
12) I Care 4 U- C- I never liked Aaliyah's music too much, but this is all right.
13) Stingy- D- Don't like the song.
14) Don't Know Why- C- I do not like Norah's sound. I don't like her voice.
15) Hero- A- One of the best songs on here. I love the song.
16) Running Away- B+- Good- sounding song from Hoobastank.
17) In My Place- A- Very nice song from Coldplay.
18) One Last Breath- A- People may down Creed, but I love this song and many others.
